Microneedling is one of the best treatments at home that you can do for your skin. It’s primary benefit is that the micro-channels it creates allow products to penetrate up to 80% deeper into the skin, increasing their efficacy. If you want to address uneven skin tone, the appearance of fine lines, scarring or dehydration, follow with the targeted product for best results.
My favorite microneedling tool is Environ’s Gold Roll CIT. The roller is elegantly plated in 14ct gold and has 260 ultra-fine needles (.2mm) of the highest-grade surgical 316 stainless steel. While the gold on this roller is naturally antibacterial, it is still important to wash it at least once a week, and run it under warm water after each use. I recommend cleaning the roller with Environ Instrument Cleaning Solution once a week. When first starting this treatment, use the roller a maximum of twice a week and gradually increase to daily use if your skin is liking the effects. Be careful not to use the gold roller if you are experiencing any breakouts or blemishes as you don’t want to spread unwanted bacteria around your face.
Cleanse and tone the skin. Divide the selected target area into sections and roll each section vertically, diagonally and horizontally with the roller for approx. 3-5 minutes. Use mild to medium pressure letting the needles do the work for you. Start by rolling twice a week and slowly increase to daily use. Apply your serums and moisturizer once finished.
